Boise Division: 100% Clean Energy Compliant

We are delighted to announce that our Boise Plant,  in Idaho, USA (responsible for the manufacture of High Purity Products for the Microelectronics industry), is now considered to be 100% Clean Energy compliant.

This initiative aligns with Porvair plc’s Environmental, Social and Governance report (ESG). The Board of Porvair plc use The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a framework for describing its approach, the full report is published here (Porvair ESG Report).

Many of the products developed by Porvair are used to the benefit of the environment and wider society and we recognise that our operations can make an important contribution to a cleaner world.

The Compliance award means that:

• The Boise Division is powered by 100% clean energy.
• We are proud to have our energy come from a diverse mix of hydro, wind, and solar power.
• The benefits from generating this emissions-free electricity are experienced in the region where we operate.
• About 40% of our energy is clean, local hydroelectricity from Idaho Power. To get to 100% clean, we joined Idaho Power’s Green Power Program to cover the non-hydro portion of our electricity use with wind and solar energy sourced from the northwest.
• We believe an important step toward our clean energy future is not only adding new renewable energy sources, but also supporting existing clean sources, like hydropower facilities.
• Our purchase is increasing demand for clean energy on our regional grid.
• The amount of renewable energy we use per year is comparable to:
• Avoiding 102,066 pounds of CO2, or
• Removing 9 vehicles from the road, or
• Growing 764 tree seedlings for 10 years

Additionally, our participation in the Green Power Program also funds Solar 4R Schools to bring solar power and sustainable energy education to local k-12 students. Helping young minds learn about sustainable energy is an important step to reaching a clean energy future.
