Lubrication

Lubrication oil is used within aircraft to reduce friction and wear, whilst cleaning and cooling critical surfaces to maintain optimum efficiency.

Lube oil filters are employed to remove contaminants produced by the engine, preventing recirculation into the system. This takes place downstream of the pumps and therefore is critical for the protection of the engine, oil cooler and reservoir. 

The use of lubrication oil filters presents many benefits to the aircraft:

• Protects the engine and oil system to ensure efficient operation
• Protects against particulate wear on seals and surfaces
• Extends system life
• Reduces equipment downtime.

Porvair Filtration Group's range of differential pressure indicators (DPI's), which are suitable for lube oil systems, provide indication of increasing differential pressure, filter blockage or by-pass by both visual and electrical signal.
