Both Vyon® sintered porous polyethylene and sintered porous polypropylene is ideal for battery vent and flame arrestor applications.
Being hydrophobic materials, the pores do not wet out allowing explosive gases to vent from the battery. Porous materials have a tortuous path structure to prevent sparks propagating back into the battery, therefore avoiding a possible explosion and as the materials are also filters they protect the electrolyte in the battery from contamination.
