An international leader in filtration and separation has completed the expansion of its cutting-edge plant in Caribou, Maine, setting it firmly on the path to new growth.
Porvair Filtration Group has doubled the size of its manufacturing and office space in Caribou and improved its existing building to provide a showcase facility.
The expansion will increase manufacturing capacity and add new capabilities in the manufacture of products for customers that demand high cleanliness.
Porvair designs and manufactures high quality, cost-effective filters for all stages of the purification or separation process, as well as OEM Products for the Analytical Instrument and the Process Instrument Markets.
The company - recently honoured in the UK with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade - specializes in a wide range of porous sintered metal products which utilise advanced technology in powder metallurgy, providing optimum solutions for a wide variety of applications.
The Caribou expansion will support Porvair in developing its innovative product line, and comes nearly two years after it acquired the site and business of Chand Eisenmann Metallurgical (CEM).
CEM has been merged with Porvair’s operations in Ashland, Virginia, and is integrated with the group’s strategy to grow its US division into a major filtration organization.
Administration, customer service, and sales for the two companies are now integrated at Porvair’s US headquarters in Virginia, and Caribou remains a dedicated manufacturing site.
The Caribou site now includes a modern, two-storey building which is integrated with the existing structure through a connector building.
The new building contains manufacturing space – used for assembly, passivation, cleaning, packaging, final inspection, storage, and shipping – as well as offices, meeting and conference rooms and reception.
As part of a sustainability drive, energy efficient lighting and insulation has been installed. These improvements provide a high quality work space for employees, and reduce energy consumption by driving down heating and lighting costs.
President of Porvair in the USA, Kevin Nelson, said that successful delivery of the expansion reaffirmed the company’s commitment to investing in its operations.
He said: “We are certain that this key investment in our infrastructure will ensure that Porvair remains at the forefront of the industry, while forging exceptional new avenues of growth.
“It is a showcase facility that will enhance the design and manufacture of our products, demonstrating to customers our commitment to driving further innovations in technology and capabilities that offer leading, cost-effective design solutions.
“It is hugely important to Porvair that we remain dedicated to investment into ground-breaking technology and exemplary customer service. This will strengthen our ability to meet the growing demands of customers across a range of industrial sectors.”
Porvair Filtration Group – which has supplied the aerospace, nuclear, energy, process and bioscience industries with performance-driven filtration equipment for almost 30 years – manufactures in both the USA and UK and has an extensive network of sales offices and distribution channels throughout the world.
