BioVyonTM Solid Phase Extraction
Solid Phase Extraction is a widely used procedure for sample preparation prior chromatography analysis. The industry is demanding higher recoveries, lower hold up volumes (use of smaller sample volumes) and reduced use of organic solvents for shorter dry down times and to lessen the environmental impact. Using BioVyonTM composite materials we have launched a range of BioVyonTM Solid Phase Extraction products specifically targeted at industry demands. Available in a range of formats including 1ml and 96 well, products are available using both C8 and C18 resins.
BioVyonTM Protein Precipitation Crash Sample Preparation
Biological samples commonly contain proteins that can interfere with analysis. Using BioVyonTM Oleophobic materials we have developed a range of products to remove the unwanted proteins. The P3, 96 well and 1ml products use the CRASH method in which protein is denatured with acetonitrile and the precipitate is then filtered out. The method is effective, quick and low cost.
BioVyonTM Protein A
Most commonly used antibody purification or separation processes are based on agarose gels functionalised with protein A. This has provided an effective tool for the purification of IgG from sera that contains many proteins. This technology however has some weaknesses. The agarose gels have to be re suspended prior to use to make the bed homogeneous, during processing the bed must not be disrupted so processes are carried out slowly and protocols are lengthy and therefore costly to use. Through novel technologies, where the rigid porous polyethylene BioVyonTM material has been chemically modified, with protein A, we have created a new material that eliminates the problems associated with agarose gels. This allows for simpler protocols, faster and more consistent purification and automated screening of antibodies.
